Transition books – Once your kid crosses the third grade, give them something that bridges the gap between easy-readers and chapter books. Favorable for kids between 7-9, these books are a little lengthier, about 30 pages long with black and white illustrations and a few colored pictures.

Chapter books – For ages 9-10, books with 50-60 pages and chapters that are 3-4 pages long are the most effective. These books make your child more expressive and helps them reason the things that surrounds them.
